How I Portaloo Hire Saved my Holiday Our exams had finished and me and my friends were going to spend some time camping on the coast of Devon. It was the summer before we were all due to go off to our separate universities, so we were determined to have a good time.It wasn’t the most luxurious of campsites, but it was right next to the beach and the view was amazing. The days were filled with sunbathing and swimming and evenings would be spent around the campfire telling stories.

One night, the weather made a turn for the worst and heavy rain came down all evening. We all huddled together and played blackgammon for hours and drank hot chocolate - we were not venturing out that evening!Out tent remained resilient against the bad weather and toughed it out all night. The next day we walked down to the showers to find that the toilets were completely flooded.

The farmer who owned the campsite was going ballistic - 150 campers onsite and nowhere for them to go to the toilet! The health and safety aspect was pretty big - so the door of his house was open for anyone who was desperate to go.He looked very angry as he tried unsuccessfully to get a plumber to do an emergency call out.It then occurred to me to ring my Dad.I was about to save the situation - my dad was managing director of a Porta loo hire company!

Ten portaloos were hired immediately, my Dad said there was no reason to worry and they would be there very soon. After I told the farmer this, he hugged me to within an inch of my life, I had save his day.Pretty soon after, one of my Dad’s vans came onsite and set up the Porta Loo units by the washrooms. The driver found the whole story very amusing but calmed the farmer down by letting him have the portaloo hire units onsite unitl the normal toilets were fixed.

Soon everything was back to normal and me and my friends all went down to the beach to enjoy the sun when on our return, we found the homemade pies and local cider waiting outside our tent - a thank you from the farmer and his wife. The food was delicious and from then on, were were treated like old friends on the campsite. It just goes to show that knowing someone in the portaloo hire business can come in very uselful sometimes!
